Professional Biography

From 1998 through until June 2004, Michael Agostino was one of the senior members of a small team of investment professionals at Seattle-based Vulcan Capital responsible for managing the portfolio of Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. While at Vulcan, he directed venture capital investments into a range of innovative technology companies within the sectors of enterprise software, communications equipment, and the Internet. Agostino served on four boards including CyberSource, OnePage, and APEX Online Learning. In addition to his venture capital duties, Agostino took on a number of management responsibilities including serving as general manager for Vulcan’s FlipStart PC initiative.

Prior to Vulcan, Agostino spent 8 years as entrepreneur, manager, and individual contributor within early-stage Silicon Valley based technology startups. Agostino's specialty is commercializing and bringing to market innovative technology. From 1995 to 1998, Agostino led development of web search and content products at Infoseek used by millions of Internet users daily from 1996 to 2001. While at Infoseek, Agostino developed the industry's first real-time add-URL service. Prior to Infoseek, Agostino held a number of product development positions with startups Go Corporation / EO Inc and Kaleida Labs. Agostino started his career with Xerox at PARC developing next-generation compiler and operating system technology. Agostino is the founder of two technology companies. Michael graduated with honors from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
